Services Offered

Kulkiran’s Professional Boundaries

1. Availability and Fit

Kulkiran will see clients at most once per week, will earnestly consider all options around goodness-of-fit, and will need to make final decisions that serves the best interests of all.

2. Service Expectations

Kulkiran's private practice is not designed for crisis counseling or case management but they will offer support around those services as needed in session. Referrals will be made if crisis and case management support needs are prioritized over therapy services within Kulkiran’s scope of practice and capacity. At times, higher levels of care may be needed and arranged.

3. Self-Agency

Kulkiran will continue to work with clients who are willing to change, are capable of practicing skills, and have access to basic resources and support. Ethically, Kulkiran will also need to refer out to appropriate resources if clients are unavailable to take responsibility for their care and/or services are not benefiting the client’s goals or wellbeing.

4. Therapeutic Match and Liability

Kulkiran will offer invitations to discuss feedback on how therapy is going, if anything needs to be addressed within the therapeutic relationship, or if changes need to be made to therapy. Kulkiran offers a complimentary consultation call to determine goodness-of-fit and next steps whether to continue or discontinue.

Kulkiran will notify the client of their boundaries around their role as therapist and scope of practice, and they will document everything factual to protect themselves from litigation and to keep their license and private practice in good-standing.

5. Crisis Expectations

As an abolitionist, Kulkiran will invite clients to employ their custom safety and wellness plan that includes local social support and access to resources. They will coordinate with the client's emergency contacts for immediate crisis support, and/or call the Mobile Crisis Unit for a wellness check. Kulkiran will reserve calling 911 as a last resort and will ask for the ambulance with mental health crisis specialists available for possible admittance into the nearest psychiatric hospital, if safety is compromised and support is unavailable.

Please note that Kulkiran only responds to messages between business hours of operations.

6. Communication

Kulkiran will only respond to messages within business hours. They will not engage in communications outside of gmail and the client portal. They will not accept social media requests. They may nonchalantly and politely acknowledge clients if noticed in public.

Clients are responsible for communicating if they are late or will have to miss a session. While context is helpful, clients are not responsible to disclose reasons behind their needs or choices.

7. Financial Responsibility

Kulkiran will need to pause therapy services if client balance is greater than a reasonable amount. Therapy may resume once the balance is reasonably met.

Clients are responsible for honoring their payment agreements and submit payment at the time of service. Clients are also responsible for requesting and following through with payment plans.

Kulkiran will refund clients when credits are discovered on the client portal.

8. Scheduling

Kulkiran will offer sessions on a first-come-first-served basis, and will offer advanced notice if they may need to cancel and reschedule sessions.

Clients receive two freebie sessions per year: one to apply for a late cancellation and one for a missed appointment.

Appointments are made specifically for each client. Kulkiran’s economic livelihood depends on the amount of sessions they render.

If clients choose to pause services for more than 3 consecutive sessions, then they risk forfeiting their regular appointment time and will be added to the waitlist. Clients are responsible to reach back out to resume regular services. Kulkiran will accommodate an existing client’s return once the schedule has regular availability.

9. Billing

Kulkiran is only in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network. They will bill a client's insurance on file according to the amount of time spent in session, including time missed for when clients are delayed to start. Exemptions are made when clients communicate their delay to start in advance. Kulkiran will not bill insurance or send invoices for services that were not rendered.

Clients are responsible for keeping track of any active accounts to sustain funding, as well as insurance adjustments including paying co-pays and/or deductibles.

If using out-of-network insurance, clients are responsible for requesting and submitting Superbill documentation to their insurance provider for reimbursement.

Client’s who choose self-pay will need to complete a “Good Faith Estimate” form and document the agreed upon rate and estimated annual cost of services. Read FAQs for more.
